Èze Village is a gorgeous French commune along the coast of South of France. I did a day trip to Èze Village from Nice which was super easy via bus and only cost €1.50! I recommend travelling via bus rather than train as the train arrives into Èze-sur-Mer rather than Èze Village which is another bus ride away. Watch out to get the bus to the correct part of Èze as there are separate buses direct to both!
Èze Village was apparently a favourite destination for Walt Disney and given the magical feel when you arrive it is easy to see why. Situated on a hilltop and once belonging to the Republic of Genoa, Italy, it is popular for it’s gorgeous views of the Mediterranean Sea. Along the winding medieval paths there are lots of little gift shops, art galleries and restaurants. As with most areas in the South of France it is not the destination for bargains but even if you are on a budget it is a great place to window shop and relax for an afternoon.
Along the way to the top you can stop off at a beautiful church which is also a perfect opportunity to take photographs of the incredible views.

There is a statue here entitled ‘Marie’ with a plaque explaining the symbolisms of the piece which translates as follows which I really liked:
‘Marie: Statue representing femininity, head turned towards the stars and feet anchored in the earth, it is the link between the symbolic world and the real world, it is at once reassuring and humble in a hard and unstable world’

Before you leave Èze Village it is definitely also worth visiting Galimard – a perfume factory and historical museum which is only one of two locations in the world (the other is in Grasse, France). The staff are very friendly and knowledgable so it is a great opportunity to pick up a unique gift while you are in the area.
